‘Best Father’s Day present’: United States soldier in Middle East needs help saving puppy


A United States soldier stationed in the Middle East has one Father’s Day desire this year: to rescue the puppy he found near base and get it to his family in Utah.

US Army Sgt. Macintire, a father of six currently on his 15th deployment overseas, located the puppy he called CJ while out on patrol and is now hoping he can transport her back home with the help of fans and the New York-based non-profit Paws of War.

” Obtaining CJ back to my family in Utah will certainly be the best Father’s Day present,” Macintire told The Article. “He was meant to be with my family. It’s going to be fantastic!”

The soldier, that can not reveal his first name or the country where he is stationed, came across CJ when she was still taking care of from her mother alongside a dusty roadway close to base.

When he walked over to get a better look, he saw CJ and her siblings were in bad shape and looking for help. However their doggy dad, who was later on named Cooper, came between Macintire and the babies, compeling him to keep his distance.

Macintire chose to provide it one more shot the next day and returned with a few other soldiers and some food so he can start gaining Cooper’s trust.

Sgt. Macintire came across CJ when she was still nursing from her mother alongside a dusty road close to base.

” While Cooper remained protective, Sgt. Macintire really did not give up. Having been raised in a boy’s group home, he admired Cooper’s protective fatherly nature for his household,” Paws of War informed The Post.

” He was patient in waiting for Cooper to trust him and start taking food, leading to him being allowed to obtain near to the puppies.”

The soldiers soon created a bond with the dog family and hung out playing with them and feeding them till one day, the pooches suddenly disappeared.

CJ was sick, afraid and in desperate need of assistance.

As the soldiers maintained looking for the rest of the family, they just managed to find one puppy still around, and she was sick, afraid and in desperate need of assistance.

Macintire claimed he “vowed to become” the dog’s new father and christened her Cooper Junior, or CJ for brief, and reached out to Paws of Battle for help.

The non-profit assists soldiers navigate the complex process of transporting pets they save overseas back to the US and right away stepped in to first relocate CJ to an emergency clinic in the Middle East so she can obtain the critical vet care that she needed.

The troubling pup nearly didn’t make it. but now, she’s back in one piece and eager to meet her brand-new for life family in Utah, Paws of Battle claimed.

“I want her to have a safe and happy life with no more suffering,” Sgt. Macintire said.

” We are always pleased to help our soldiers get the pets they saved while deployed, to their families, so they are waiting for them when the soldier returns house,” claimed Dereck Cartright, a disabled expert that functions as a stateside logistics coordinator for the charitable.

” However it’s something we can’t do alone. We need assistance from individuals in the community to help cover the costs. Every little donation adds up to a big successful mission.”
