Katherine Connor, the founder of BLES – Boon Lott’s Elephant Sanctuary, provides a loving home for retired and rescued elephants, giving them a life free from past mistreatment.
Among the elephants at the sanctuary was Boon Thong, an elderly elephant who recently passed away after having cherished moments in her life.
During her final moments, Boon Thong was not alone; by her side was Pancake, a dog who had once been a stray but now a cherished member of the sanctuary.
Although different in species, Pancake and Boon Thong shared a close bond, with Pancake offering her companionship and support, staying beside Boon Thong until her very last breath.
Pancake and Katherine Connor remained with Boon Thong, reminiscing about their shared memories until sunset on the day of her passing.
Following Boon Thong’s passing, the sanctuary held a heartfelt funeral, laying her to rest among her fellow elephants, surrounded by fruits and flowers as a final tribute.
It is truly heartwarming to witness the compassion and love animals have for one another. May Boon Thong rest in peace. 💖🙏🏼
