Soldier Falls In Love With Puppy In Iraq. And Later Dog Goes Bonkers When They Reunite
Being far from home, living in a war-torn country is both terrifying and isolating. For one soldier, a new friend made his days extra liveable. Until someday, the soldier had to leave his friend behind and it broke his heart.
Ken Wyrsch met a roaming puppy near the military base in Iraq. Immediately, the pup, he called Ollie, provided Ken the comfort he desperately craved. The various other bear up base that met Ollie likewise fell in love with him. He was such a wonderful addition to the hardworking team.
Ollie would wait on base when the soldiers were on missions and anxiously await their return. Coming “home” to his wagging tail and furry hugs reminded the soldiers that there’s a world, and a life, far beyond the vacuum they were residing in.
Then, Ken obtained some upsetting news. The military base was being closed down. While it was a relief he would be sent back home to California, the closure of the base meant Ollie would certainly be back on the streets. Due to strict customizeds laws, Ollie can not simply board a plane and return with Ken.
Ollie would certainly need to look after himself in a place that didn’t care that he was wonderful, affectionate, and faithful. As a matter of fact, his disposition would likely obtain him eliminated. So, Ken called SPCA International to see what they could do.
One month later, after lots of generous donations, Ken and Ollie were back with each other once again. Their get-together is so heartfelt, I had to watch it twice!
Ken claimed it best, “You do not leave a buddy behind.” Which is true! Check out their story and reunion in the video clip below!
