Meet Zeek.

The six-month-old kitten was surrendered to Second Chance Animal Shelter in Massachusetts by his owner who could no longer care for him. His owner was experiencing health issues of their own and made the difficult decision to give him up so he could get the care he needs.

Zeek has a badly fractured leg and needs immediate medical care.

After being thoroughly examined by a vet, it was decided that the only option was to amputate the leg. Zeek is awaiting surgery in a foster home.

Shelters have very limited budgets which are mostly spent on food and leave nothing for medical bills. However, they are determined to do everything they can to save animal lives, and that is where Greater Good Charities’ Emergency Animal Medical fund comes in.

The fund was created to help rescues and shelters save lives by covering the cost of medical bills and ongoing treatments. Cats like Zeek can get the second chance they deserve with your continued support.

He has his whole life ahead of him and the shelter is sure he will quickly find a home after recovery due to his friendly nature.

You can help Zeek get the surgery he needs to heal just in time for the holidays. Your gift will not only give him the hope to keep fighting, but your donations will help cover his ongoing care.

Pets receiving critical care facilitated by an Emergency Animal Medical grant may not be eligible for adoption until they have completed their course of treatment. If you would like to inquire about adoption of a specific animal, we strongly encourage you to visit the shelter’s specific website first as that is often the most up to date place to learn about available pets and review the adoption policies and process. Check out Second Chance Animal Shelter’s website to see all adoptable pets.
