What started as a cute TikTok video turned into a cat rescue success after it lead to several shelter cats being adopted.
The Wayside Waifs in Kansas City, Missouri shared the video on TikTok to showcase some of the cats they have up for adoption.
In the clip, you can see a staff member holding a bowl full of papers that have various cat descriptions. The staff members a fellow staff member to “recommend me a cat” based on a randomly selected description.
The first description is “a cat that loves to cuddle,” so the staff member heads to a sweet feline named Corduroy. From there, they look for “a cat with catitude.” The staff member leads viewers to the “sweet but unpredictable Treva.”
They continue drawing descriptions and picking out cats based on what they draw.
Since being shared on TikTok, the video went viral and has been viewed more than 1.6 million times.

The video did more than just gain the shelter some social media fame; it prompted several cat adoptions as well!
Amazingly, all but two of the cats featured in the viral clip have been adopted, according to KMBC 9.
In an interview with KMBC 9, the shelter’s humane educator Amy Putman explains, “The dogs are sometimes easier to, you know, make TikToks about and things like that. But we’ve got lots of different personalities [of cats].”
