Anyone who has a cat or kitten knows that they provide hours of entertainment with their crazy antics. If traditional football isn’t your thing but cats are, then you’re in luck. Dozens of ‘cat-letes’ will be taking the field over Super Bowl weekend.

Shelter kittens and cats are preparing for a big game of their own. Curious and rambunctious kittens are plotting and planning their tackles and moves for a chance at the trophy. Their goal is to not only win but find a forever home.

This will be the seventh Kitten Bowl and second Cat Bowl hosted by Hallmark Channel to promote adoption. So far, the friendly competitions have led to over 20,000 felines finding loving homes.

The tradition continues this year with over 40 fluffy yet fierce kittens battling for the title of Most Valuable Kitten. Prepare to be amazed by their ‘purr-fect cat-leticism’ and gravity-defying leaps. The felines will bat and toss mini footballs in the air in an attempt to score a touchdown, while showing off their irresistible personalities.

The kittens were divided into four teams: Courageous Cougars, Last Hope Lions, Little Longtails, and North Shore Bengals. There will be two play-off games followed by a championship game.

Adults, seniors, and special needs cats will hit the field a day earlier during the Cat Bowl to prove that they still have quick reflexes. Many of the cats are available for adoption and the goal is to encourage everyone to adopt not shop. Cats and kittens available for adoption can be found on North Shore Animal League America.
