We all need to make decisions in life, and this includes when we have an opportunity to bring a pet to our home. There are many options available, and many people choose to rescue.
That was true of the woman in this story, who had a plan that had been in place for many years. She knew that she always wanted to adopt a cat, and, in fact, she wanted multiple felines in her home.
The thing is, she also knew that when she reached her third cat, she wanted to adopt a cat with special needs. She wanted to do what she could to help a feline that may not otherwise get adopted.
That is when she saw a picture of Pancake. It was love at first sight, and she knew right away that she had to do something to help that little bundle of fur.
The biggest issue for her was that Pancake had some special needs she wasn;t sure she could handle. She knew that it would be difficult for her to get adopted, but Pancake fell right in line with her desire to help a cat in need.
The problem was, the shelter wasn’t sure if she would be able to handle the needs of this special need cat. They decided to do a foster-to-adopt program, which would allow her to bring Pancake to her home and make sure that it was a good fit.
If you know anything about rescuing cats, it’s that they don’t always make a good first impression. They will often hiss or lash out at you, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that is the type of cat they are on the inside.
Pancake also didn’t make a good first impression, but her human tried to be understanding. She figured if Pancake was cranky, she probably had a reason to be cranky that day.
It took a month, but Pancake started adapting to the new world around her. She no longer hissed at the other cats, and she would lie on the bed with them, even though they each had their own location.
Once Pancake learned to trust, she was very loving. She also had a very loud purr, which her human enjoyed, because her other cats didn’t have it.
In the end, it was a fantastic fit, and she was happy to have the third cat she so desired.
