Life throws all sorts of curve balls at us, and some people are hit with more than one at a time. They are forced to make difficult decisions – like surrendering their pet, but they do it to give the pet the best life possible. This is not a decision most people take lightly and is usually a last resort.

Staff at Brother Wolf Animal Rescue in Asheville, North Carolina, have seen their share of surrendered animals, and so when they found two pet carriers placed under a shade tree in their fenced-in play yard they responded with compassion and understanding.

A woman abandoned her two cats at the shelter and wrote a heartbreaking note on the top of one of the pet carriers. It read, “My name is Baby, my mommy can’t take care of me anymore. Please find me and my sister a new home. Thank you!”

The shelter took to Facebook to respond to the owner and reassure her that her cats were in good hands. They wrote, “To the person who left them… They are safe with us, and thank you for trusting us with your cats you so clearly loved; we understand you didn’t have another choice, and we hope you are ok.”

The bonded cats with special needs hoped to find a home together. The sweet felines were placed in the same kennel at the shelter and renamed Junebug and Magpie.

It didn’t take long for another family to welcome the cats into their home. Check out other cats at the shelter waiting for their forever home.

The shelter helps homeless animals near and far. They save animals facing euthanasia due to lack of space with their shelter transfer partnerships. Brother Wolf just took in ten puppies who were about to be euthanized and will give them the second chance they deserve.

It takes a village to rescue and care for animals. Please visit their website to see how you can help.
